तोडो नहीं, जोडो...(Don't break, but join)

Image
A couple of months back, in a small accident, I fractured my shoulder. The independent person in me suddenly found myself restricted by many boundaries. The smallest things like driving a car were impossible for me due to this which confined my movements. Also, the extra outfit called the shoulder immobilizer acted as another hurdle while going out. Still, I could manage a trip during Diwali with my family and another Trip to Alibaug with office buddies. However, such things impact the psyche of any person in a subtle way even though others may not be able to see, on the face of it. The fractured shoulder made me realize again how it's very easy to break something but difficult to join. It would have taken hardly 30 seconds for the left humerus of greater tuberosity to fracture, but it will take more than three months for the bone to join completely. Since this is a bone, it can join and heal with time. But there are certain things that cannot join once broken, like relations or fr

Last month, one of the coordinators at the authorised training centre of C-DAC called me. For those who are not aware of C-DAC, let me tell you that C-DAC is a premier R&D organization set up by the Government of India in 1988 to build Supercomputers in the context of the denial of import of Supercomputers by the USA. He also mentioned that in his twenty years-long association with C-DAC, he found a couple of C-DAC placement coordinators a pleasure to work with and I was one of them. He clarified that he is not saying it because he wants any favour from me, but because he felt a connection with me. (Moreover, I am separ

The r-EV-olution in India

It’s been two years now that I have been using an EV (an electric bike, rather the first e-bike of India) and a lot has changed in the last two years in the electric mobility space which can be called a revolution. From the last couple of years, COVID 19 had adversely impacted the penetration of EVs in India and so the rEVoution which was supposed to take place by mid-2021 is visible now. The automotive industry is going through a transition switching to alternative and less energy-intensive options of mobility due to two reasons: first the rising fuel prices and then the environmental concern. I haven’t seen such excitement for electric vehicles as I am seeing right now. At the start of 2020, there were hardly any EVs on the Pune roads, whereas in 2022, I could see at least a dozen vehicles with green number plates plying on the same roads in Pune. However, there’s still a long way to go. EV demand got a fillip of late as fuel prices soared, making many buyers of conventional vehicles
