Kya apna time aayega???
(From the title, you must have got an idea about the
subject. Of course, General Elections are around the corner and the subject
that is over the internet is 'Indian Politics'. Having said that, I would like to understand what is that
the common man or public is looking for in the General Elections 2019. In the
title of this blog, Apna means Public ka. The tapori Munna in the evergreen movie Rangeela says ‘Apun Public
hai, apun kisiko kuchh bhi bol sakta hai.’)
In most of the competitive exams, we have Multiple Choice
Questions with four choices. Sometimes we don’t know the answer, but we feel
that the other three choices are wrong and so we eliminate them, and thus
selecting the remaining option. In this upcoming General Election also, most of
the voters opine that they don’t know who would be the right choice for the
nation, but they know for sure that a few of them are not the right choice, so
we are eliminating the options that we think are not suitable. The ones who are
selecting the options are termed as Bhakts
or Khangressi or Aaptards.
Also, in 2014 General Elections, it was elimination
method used to prohibit dynasty politics or corruption to come to Power. The
present PM was the most promising alternative and hence he won the match. No
doubt he is a great Marketer and a good orator akin an MLM Motivator, but many
Indians like me are now fed up of those same talks and anecdotes ( I have
attended enough of motivational talks and have occasionally delivered some). In
2014, although the agenda was Development but the bottom-line was Hindu
Identity. People had a Feel Good factor after voting BJP, as they wanted to bring change.
There was another factor which created awareness in the people especially
youth. It was Anna Andolan in 2011 and the rise of Anti-Corruption crusador
Arvind Kejriwal in 2012. In December 2013, after AAP got 28 sets in Delhi and
Arvind Kejriwal defeated the undefeatable Sheila Dixit, there was an enthusiasm
in public that a common Man educated from IIT having no background of active
politics can reach the top post in the state. However, the enthusiastic public
particularly in the age group of 20-35 years supported the fire brand orator
Narendra Modi having a support of political party named BJP for national polls.
Kejriwal being a novice in politics was not considered for the top post by the
public and therefore the direct competitor of Modi was with another novice
Rahul Gandhi. RaGa’s PR was so poorly managed that his interview with The India
wants to know journalist costed him the young votes. And still the young
generation feels that he has a long way to go, albeit his intentions may be good.
Intention was the real reason why the present government was able to garner the
support of majority, social media was successful in portraying the noble
intentions. Nobody expected those 15 Lakh Rupees to be deposited in their accounts,
but the upper middle class who has flourished after the financial reforms
doesn’t want to lose their 15 Lakh/annum salary package. However, from the
industry reports it appears that it would be impossible to enhance that package
and difficult to retain the jobs, as no new jobs are being created. So Achhe
Din was a reverie.
The optimistic guys who used to post articles on the
improvement of Economy after Modi Rule are now silent and forget about the Rs. 15
lakh promise, for them the Rs. 72000 per year appears to be a jumla. The reason is that when it was regarding the 15 lakh
announcement, Public was just being optimistic about Apna Time Aayega, now they are being realistic. Now they are quite
sure that Apna Time abhi nahi aayega, jo
bhi chunke aayega usika time aayega. Because the difference in the last
poll and this poll is that the optimism has waned although the competition
remains the same but the enthusiasm has a bit reduced and there is no NEW Anna
or Kejriwal to infuse a new enthusiasm in the public which has got divided into
Bhakts aka Chowkidars and Congressi
aka Berojgars.
A lot of readers reading this piece of article will try to typecast me as either liberal or right wing activist, but can we not
look at the political situation objectively than emotionally? Can we not
discuss the objectives we wanted to achieve five years ago versus the achievements,
as we do in our workplaces? They say, when every logical argument fails,
religion or national security has to emerge as key issues. In the movies of
late nineties there used to be Videshi Taakat ka haath dialogue with every corrupt politician. Are we seeing that
in reality now? It’s high time we, the people of India have to awaken and
become responsible citizens. Vote responsibly and logically.
Jai Hind!
